BNI Chip Card Migration Target Remains Amid Skimming Cases

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Tbk targets the debit cards with chips of 30 percent of the total debit cards by the end of 2018. The target remains, despite the recent cases of skimming.
"Our target remains 30 percent by the end of 2018," said BNI Finance Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo when met at his office on Tuesday, March 20. Anggoro explained the giving of debit cards with a chip is done to new customers.
In addition, it is given to customers who change the card due to the damaged or expired in the branch office.
Regarding the skimming cases, Anggoro admitted his team has done the preventive steps by routinely check the ATM machine and also already installed the anti-fraud units.
“So if there is an anomaly in the transaction, we can stop it immediately," he said.
Anggoro said, his team also claimed to have routinely educated their BNI customers related to the security of transactions. "Both are important," he said.
