Anies Baswedan Issues Regulation on Prostitution, Drug Abuse

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has officially issued Governor’s Regulation No 18/2018 on tourism businesses stipulating sanctions against businesses violating the law on prostitution, gambling, and narcotics.
“The legal basis to hand out sanctions is now clear,” said Tinia Budianti, Jakarta’s head of tourism and culture agency on Monday.
Tinia said the regulation contained 61 Articles that had been ratified by Anies Baswedan on March 12. The regulation states that information of violations can stem from field findings, information from mass media, and public complaints.

“Tourism businesses that overlook the sales, distribution, and use of narcotics will have their permits revoked immediately without warnings,” said Tinia.
She explained the same went for violations on gambling. “All business permits under the same management will be revoked.”
Tinia said the regulation issued by Governor Anies Baswedan also mentioned sanctions for crimes such as human trafficking and prostitution.
