TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A group of protesters identifying themselves as the revolutionary Islamic community forum (FUIR) demanded the resignation of both Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno.
“The pair won the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election because of the support from the [Islamic] community and Ulemas,” said activist Dhani Jesy, the group’s rally coordinator, on Monday.
Some 50 FUIR members took part in the rally, which was staged at the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD).

Dhany claimed Anies Baswedan had intentionally discounted the ongoing issues that were being fought for by the Muslim community, including the case involving Rizieq Shihab. The group deemed the Jakarta Governor had never defended the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).
“When Muslim public figures paid Rizieq a visit, Anies Baswedan stood in silence,” said Dhany. “When Rizieq Shihab was rumored to be coming back to Indonesia, Anies did not do anything while many of us went to the airport to welcome him.”
Dhany also touched on the blasphemy case implicating former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). “Anies is good with rhetoric but does not do anything to defend the community that intends to enforce the sharia,” he said.
