Odd-Even traffic system on Jakarta-Cikampek toll road

TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Police Chief General Tito Karnavian said that the policy package of congestion handling on Jakarta - Cikampek toll road was considered a quite successful, especially on the road heading to Jakarta.

"Five days after it is implemented, the result turns out to be good," said Tito at the Post of Green Line, Mega City Bekasi, Friday, March 1.The odd-even policy on the Cikampek-Jakarta toll road  is a government regulation dubbed Green Line. The program, he went on, aims to reduce the traffic congestion from Bekasi to Jakarta and vice versa.

He said the policy was implemented because along Jakarta-Bekasi route owing to the heavy congestion. Thus, Tito went on, the key is to reduce flow in Jakarta-Bekasi road and vice versa. "The policy has been running well, and must be maintained," he state.

Tito argued the policy package is potentially expanded. He asked the Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) to review the traffic jam in the afternoon, from Jakarta to Cikampek up to Purwakarta-Bandung-Cileunyi (Purbaleunyi) toll road during a long holiday. "I have demanded to immediately look for a solution," he said.

Tito Karnavian admitted that the congestion is caused by the construction works on the toll roads including the light rail transit (LRT), Jakarta-Cikampek 2 elevated toll, as well as the Jakarta-Bandung speed train.

All those projects, he claimed, will be completed by 2019. "People are expected to be patient, hopefully, everything will be better after the project is completed," said Tito Karnavian explaining about the congestion in Jakarta - Cikampek Toll road.
