TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Adhi Karya claimed the construction of Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, which they built, is earthquake resistant to 8 Richter Scale.
“If the earthquake is 7 to 8 SR, it will not collapse," said General Manager of PT Adhi Karya LRT Department Agus Karianto in Pancoran area, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 13.
Agus said it is obtained through the use of a Lead Rubber Bearing (LRB) technology. LRB is a cushion made of rubber mounted between the Pier Head and U-Shape Girder.

Pier Head is a widened concrete construction at the very top of the pile. It serves as a flyover holder. While the U-Shape Girder is a U-shaped concrete construction that serves as an LRT line.
Agus said the use of LRB technology can absorb earthquake vibrations. That way, the vibration load on the construction will become lighter. "That (LRB) must be imported from New Zealand, China and Italy," he said.
As known, Adhi Karya became the main contractor of the Jabodebek LRT project.
