Police Hope Novel Baswedan willing to Go Through Reinvestigation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) senior investigator Novel Baswedan was asked by Director of the Jakarta Police Crime Investigation Department, Senior Commissioner Nico Afinta to re-provide information related to the attack against him. Nico said the police would use the information for the investigation report (BAP).

"It's better for everything he (Novel) conveyed to the media is also delivered to the police. I hope after his healing, he’d like to through another BAP," Nico said at Ancol Mercure Hotel, North Jakarta, Wednesday, March 7.

Nico also asked for many evidence Novel mentioned in front of the press to directly sent to the police investigator, such as the closed circuit television (CCTV) of Jakarta Government he spread in a private television show.

On the TV show, Novel claimed police have yet checked the CCTV footage which he thought as an important evidence to reveal his case. The footage was owned by the city government to monitor flood issue.

"Well, if he has new evidence, it must be provided to the police to be included as fact in the BAP," Nico added.

Novel was splashed with acid water after took dawn prayers on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, and then flown to Singapore for the treatment on his left eye. In one of the CCTV footages at the crime scene showed the attack was done by two strange people using motorcycles.

Police had asked for information while Novel Baswedan undergoing treatment in Singapore. The information was then included in the BAP. However, the police demanded Novel Baswedan to undergo a re-examination for further information.
