TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) went down to the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout and Senayan underground station to monitor the construction of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project.
The president was accompanied by MRT Chairman William Sabandar, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, and NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh.
“I asked the chairman and confirmed that the project will be completed as scheduled and will be operable by March next year. It will not miss the deadline,” Jokowi told journalists at the Senayan underground station on Wednesday, March 7.

The construction process is 91.86 percent done per late February, which includes the installation of 11,314-meter tracks.
MRT Jakarta will have 16 train sets; one set consists of 6 carriages. The train will be operated by using a level two automated operating system or GoA 2 with a communication-based train control (CBTC) that is controlled by an operating control center (OCC).
“Regarding the upcoming Asian Games, I assure you that there will be no more iron sheets above ground. It will all be cleared and the sidewalks will be widened,” said Jokowi. “Asian Games guests will be presented with a clean and beautiful Jakarta.”
