TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi will introduce to the public three policies on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, which will is slated to take effect beginning March 12.
"We would like to educate the public to further utilize public transportation,” said Minister Budi Karya on Monday, March 5.
The three new policies comprise limiting the number of vehicles allowed to access the Cikampek-Jakarta toll-road based on the vehicles’ license plate numbers, which is also known as the "odd-even license plate policy".
“Around 30-40 percent of traffic congestion can be reduced,” Budi said.
Budi explained the ministry offers a parking space for people unable to use their vehicles during the "odd-even" hours, which is effective from Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
The parking space in West Bekasi will be at Summarecon and Mega City, whole those in East Bekasi will be at LRT/Grand Dhika and the BTC. Buses will also be provided for them to travel from the parking lots to their destinations that will be available once every 10 minutes.
According to Luhut, a similar policy will be implemented to other toll-roads across the country should the strategy prove effective.
