TEMPO.CO, Mataram - The cultural parade will enliven the national tourism event 2018 Pesona Bau Nyale Festival in Seger Beach, Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara, on March 6, 2018. Festival Bau Nyale origin is from Putri Mandalika legend, who threw herself into the open sea to bring peace since many princes fight to wed her.

Central Lombok Regency Government collaborated with West Nusa Tenggara Tourism Board will showcase 64 Mandalika Princess costumes along with the maids and seven princes.

Mandalika Fashion Carnival will also be held with as much as 50 participants. Two British tourists will join the performance including a cultural delegation from Kutai East Kalimantan and Kampar regency, Riau. The costumes to be displayed in this cultural parade are lionfish or sea animals cloths.

"This carnival will last about four hours along the 1.9 kilometers road," said the curator of Mandalika Princess Culture Parade Muhammad Alfin at NTB Tourism Board office on Saturday, March 3.

Every 20th day of the 10th month based on Sasak calendar, which falls on Tuesday-Wednesday, March 6-7, 2018, Princess Mandalika will appear reincarnated as nyale (sea worm). At the day, thousands of Lombok Island residents catch sea worms which believed as sacred creatures that bring prosperity to those who honor them, or misfortune to those who ignore them.

This event is the second cultural parade ahead of 2018 Pesona Bau Nyale Festival in Central Lombok. The series of events have begun in a number of Mandalika tourism site since February 20, including dialogue activities as well as competitions events such as international beach volleyball, international surfing, and photography.
