TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The East Jakarta police precinct have named two people suspects in the collapse of a girder pole at the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) on Tuesday.
The suspects, AA and AS, are the chief field executive of Waskita Karya and the chief supervisor of Virama Karya.
“We named them as suspects after investigating the crime scene with the Police Headquarters forensic team and questioned 12 witnesses. There are indications of negligence,” East Jakarta Police Chief Sr. Comr. Yoyin Tony Surya said on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The police, Yoyon said, also asked experts about whether there was a violation of the standard operating procedures in the project.
On early Tuesday morning, Feb. 2, the girder pole on the Becakayu toll project collapsed from 15 meters above ground. The incident injured workers, including two with broken bones and one with a severe head wound.
All seven workers are undergoing treatment at UKI Hospital in Cawang, East Jakarta and are in critical condition.

According to the forensic lab, the pier head was not strong enough to hold the concrete. It caused the girder pole to slide down, bringing to fall seven workers who were on top of it.
