TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura I in 2018 will allocate Rp18.8 trillion worth of investment to build a number of airport infrastructures. It is intended to maintain and improve quality in order to anticipate the increasing number of passengers.
"The main problem is the limitation of airport which is the imbalance between the number of passengers and the airport capacity, and this has been the main focus of the company to anticipate the surge of passengers," PT Angkasa Pura I director Faik Fahmisaid in Jakarta on Saturday, Feb. 24.
In the 54th gathering of PT Angkasa Pura I, Fahmi explained that the company has been assigned to run 13 airports in central and east Indonesia.
"This year, this company will run five more airports in east Indonesia," he went on.
The investment, he continued, will be used to build airport facilities; both land and air facilities, including to build Kulonprogo International Airport in Yogyakarta.
The number of passengers in 13 airports in 2017, reached 89 million people and it is predicted to rise as more airports will operate.
