Indonesia Builds Dry Port Near Entikong Border Post

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry is building a dry port near the Entikong border post, West Kalimantan. The construction has progressed to 40 percent and is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018.

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the dry port is very important to ensure smooth distribution of international goods in the border area.

“The President wants [the dry port] to be operational before December. So, it will be launched in November 2018,” he said in Entikong on Friday, February 23.

According to Budi, the Ministry also provides additional facilities such a stall for West Kalimantan's signature products. He asserted that a culinary center will also be made available to offer workers and travelers with convenience.

The development of the Entikong dry port has entered the third phase with a total budget of above Rp76 billion. The final phase includes the construction of warehouses, weigh stations, and management building and supporting facilities, such as canteen.

Budi explained that the road access to the dry port will be separated from public roads such as Inland Tebadau Terminal, Malaysia. Tebadau is just less than a kilometer from the Entikong Border Post (PLBN). The entire flow of goods from and to Indonesia will be concentrated in the dry port.
