TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - People's enthusiasm for watching Indonesian movies has gradually increased in early this year. The movie Dilan 1990 based on a novel written by Pidi Baiq had nearly 6 million viewers and a movie Eiffel I`m In Love 2 that aired after 14 years later of its first movie.
Various movies will be released in March this year and here is the list:
1. Nini Thowok (March 1)
"Nini Thowok" film is about Nadine (Natasha Wilona) and her sister Naya (Nicole Rossi) who were forced to open and not to sell an inn Mekar Jiwo as her grandmother's (Jajang C. Noer) inheritance in Solo, West Java. After living there for few days, Nadine experienced some strange incidents and believed it was related to a forbidden room. Out of curiosity, she desperately opened the room and found a photo and a jelangkung doll Nini Thowok. The real terror began to haunt Nadine since then. "Nini Thowok" is directed by Erwin Arnada and produced by TBS Films. It will be aired in Indonesian cinemas on March 1.
2. Benyamin Biang Kerok (March 1)
A film "Benyamin Biang Kerok" (Benyamin the troublemaker) directed by Hanung Bramantyo tells about Pengki (Reza Rahadian), a rich Betawi boy who fell in love with Aida (Delia Husein). However, he has to deal with a famous mafia Said (Qomar) who also wants Aida to be his wife. Pengki's life gets complicated due to his mother who wants him to run her IT company business. This movie will be released on March 1.
3. Titisan Setan (March 8)
"Titisan Setan" (Satan’s heir) is a film about Melissa (Wendy Wilson) and her boyfriend Bara (Baim Wong) who spend their romantic weekend alone at a renting villa. Bara intended to record all their intimate activity by setting CCTV camera everywhere in the room. However, his intention has yet succeeded since the room was haunted by evil and they started becoming the target of ghost rage. The film is directed by Agusti Tanjung and will be released on March 8.
4. Love For Sale (March 15)
This romantic-comedy movie is about the life of a 42-year-old man Richard Achmad (Gading Marten), a single for the past of his life, who meets a 25-year-old girl Arini Kusuma (Della Dartyan) via dating app. The story gets complicated since Richard has to stay with Arini for a long time as he only thought to date her overnight. "Love For Sale" is directed by Andibachtiar Yusuf, and produced by Angga Dwimas Sasongko and Chicco Jerikho. It will be aired in Indonesian cinemas on March 15.
5. Danur 2: Maddah (March 29)
The film "Danur 2: Maddah" is based on a novel Maddah by Risa Saraswati. This horror film is about Risa (Prilly Latuconsina) and her sister Riri (Sandrina Michelle) who lived with their uncle Ahmad (Bucek) in Bandung, West Java. In the new house, Risa discovered her uncle’s affair with another woman, yet she could not tell her aunt Tina (Sophia Latjuba). One night, she was disturbed by the creepy female ghosts in the house and her uncle started to act strangely. The film directed by Awi Suryadi will be aired on March 29, 2018.
6. Teman Tapi Menikah (March 29)
The story of the film "Teman Tapi Menikah" (friends and married) tells about a womanizer Ditto (Adipati Dolken) who fell in love with Ayu (Vanesha Prescilla) due to her unique character. Unfortunately, he got friend-zoned for eleven years and yet stayed eager to marry her by doing various ways to make Ayu his eternal friend for life.
The film is inspired by the friendship story of Ayudia Bing Slamet and Ditto Percussion written in their bestselling book #TemanTapiMenikah. With a comedy and fun style, these two entertainers say that a couple should start from a friendship, thus at the right time, love will eventually come up. The film directed by Rako Prijanto will be aired in Indonesian cinemas on March 29, 2018.
