Anies Baswedan Intercepted by Paspampres, State Palace Responses

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan was intercepted by Presidential Security Force (Paspampres) as he approached President Jokowi after the final match of Presidential Cup 2018. It was recorded in a short video which circulated on social media.

Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin confirmed that the incident was a security procedure.

According to Bey, Paspampres only allow the names that mentioned by the presenter which previously prepared by the event organizer. Bey said they did not follow the state provisions protocol on the procedure of President Accompaniment by the regional head because Presidential Cup is not a state event.

Bey said, Jokowi also still need to wait for 15 minutes on the field because the event is not an official state event. President must wait until the completion of another award before handing the cup to Persija.
