TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - General Election Commission (KPU) chairman Arief Budiman affirmed that severe sanction awaits regional head candidates indicated cheating in attracting people’s sympathy to support them in the General Election to be held on June 27, 2018.
"Sanction will be imposed to those using money politics, issues of tribal affiliations, religion, race and societal groups (SARA), black campaign or hoax," Arief stated in Makassar, South Sulawesi on Sunday (18/2).
He confirmed that if there are campaign team or candidates violate the regulation, they will be provided with a letter of warning. If they still engage in the law-breaking acts they will be blacklisted.
"The most severe punishment is disqualification and even receiving legal charges if done repeatedly," he went on.
