TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ministry of Transportation is still observing the test type formulation of electric cars, to determine the device equipment needed.

Transportation Directorate General Facilities, Eddy Gunawan, said that things are being studied such as type test formulation, vehicle sound threshold, vehicle sound differentiator, battery power and device equipment required.

Eddy said the sound threshold is needed to provide safety for the road users and electric car drivers. The sound of the electric vehicle must be different with the motorcycle.

"Nearly silent electric cars could endanger people's safety [...] It must create sound (at low speed)," said Eddy.

His team is also reviewing the aspects of battery power of electric cars. Currently, he claims that he needs the type test formulation to determine the type of the device test equipment required.
