TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The governments of Indonesia and Pakistan agreed to strengthen energy and trade partnerships. The Foreign Ministry's issued a press release yesterday stating that the agreement was reached during a state visit by President Joko Widodo to Pakistan on January 26-27.
During the visit, the two country leaders witnessed the signing of energy agreements and amendments to the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) protocol.

Indonesia and Pakistan also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the diplomatic training cooperation and a MoU on trade promotion.
In the energy sector, Indonesia will supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Pakistan. Pertamina will follow up on the agreement with its partners, Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) and Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSOCL).
During the visit, a business forum attended by more than 100 Indonesian and Pakistani businessmen was also held. The forum resulted in the signing of a MoU between both nations' Chamber of Commerce. The total transactions amounted to US$115 million in the trade and investment sectors.
