Yogyakarta Optimistic to Reach 10% Increase in Tourist Visits

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yogyakarta Tourism Agency is optimistic that the number of visits of both domestic and international tourists in 2018 will rise 10 percent than that of 2017.
"We are certain that we can reach 10 percent of increase since last year (2017) we managed to exceed the target," Yogyakarta Tourism Agency(Dispar) head Aris Riyanta said in Yogyakarta on Saturday (27/1).
He stated that to boost the number of visits this year, promotion is done to a number of cities both domestic and international. In addition, numerous tourism events will be prepared in the near future including Jogja Heboh, Jogja Air Show, Jogja Street Performace, YogyakartaChinese Culture Fair and other events.
Aris mentioned that in 2017 as many as 397.000 international tourists and 4.7 million domestic tourists visited the city with the total of 23.7 million people paid their visits to tourism sites in five regencies.
"Despite the fact that we are still calculating the number of visitors, it already exceeds the target we have set," he said.
