TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Malaysian police have arrested an Indonesian man suspected of being linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The Indonesian was arrested along with a Malaysian who was also suspected of being a member of ISIS.

"The two men allegedly were planning a terrorist attack in Malaysia," Chief of Police Tan Sri Dato Sri Mohamad Fuzi bin Aaron said in a written statement released yesterday, Jan. 22.

Both men were arrested at different times. The 23-year-old Indonesian was arrested in Kuala Lumpur on January 17, while a 25-year-old Malaysian was arrested in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, on December 23.

According to Fuzi, the Indonesian man works as a laborer in Malaysia and had been sworn in as ISIS member through WhatsApp.

The two men allegedly planned to attack the PDRM Headquarters in Bukit Aman and the Travers Police Station in Kuala Lumpur to steal firearms.

"They plan to use the firearms during acts of terrorism in Malaysia and Indonesia," the statement said.
