IDX Collapsed Floor: Dozens of Staffs Scream Hysterically

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dozens of staffs at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) building or BEI screamed hysterically to see the collapse of Mezzanine Floor Tower II of the BEI Building, SCBD Region, South Jakarta, on Monday afternoon, January 15, at around 12:20 pm.
"When it collapsed, sirens are being alarmed, and those on the scene screamed hysterically," said Lily, a worker at BEI, she told Tempo after the incident.

When the floor collapsed, Lily was inside the second floor elevator and was about to go down. However, inside the elevator she heard a very loud sound like a bomb.
"Dum!" Lily mimicked the collapsed sound of mezzanine floor. "A lot of people ran past to find the way out when the incident happened."
Lily is also looking for a way out Tower II to save herself. Soon after, many ambulances arrive to bring the victims to the hospital.
According to her, the ambulance came quickly and immediately took the victims to the hospital. "After that, the building is directly guarded by the police."

The representative of the BEI Building management company, Farida, promised to inspect all the building files and its completeness to investigate who is responsible.
Meanwhile, according to Jakarta Police spokesman Commissioner Argo Yuwono, the current number of victims is 72 people, some of them are students who are visiting the BEI. A total of 15 victims were treated at Mintoharjo Hospital, 30 in Siloam Semanggi MRCCC Hospital, 7 victims in Pertamina Hospital Kebayoran, and 20 others in Jakarta Hospital.
