Refugees are seen evacuating from the Mount Agung`s eruption area.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Information and Public Relations Data Center of National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said that the Mount Agung in Bali erupted again on Monday, January 15, at 07:23 local time. Even so, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and Lombok International Airport are declared safe and operating normally.

"The volcanic ash spray only occurs around Mount Agung, none of which leads to the airport." Sutopo explained it in his written statement, Monday, January 15.

Mount Agung erupts shortly with an altitude about 2,000 to 2,500 meters above the crater peak. A level IV alert status with hazardous area recommendation has been applied within 6-kilometer radius. "Beyond the 6-kilometer radius, the condition is safe," said Sutopo.

In accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in an effort to improve the safety of air communications, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation has issued Volcano Observatory Notice for Aviation (VONA) with the orange color code of post-corruption.
Sutopo stated that the people activities are normal. They were not panic when they saw the eruption.

Experience in handling the eruption during November 2017 gave a better understanding so that they are prepared better to face the eruption. Even so, BNPB still warned the public to be aware of the potential aftershock eruption.

To date, as many as 47,268 people are in 229 evacuation sites. Several things, said Sutopo, are still being a constraint in handling the refugees, such as posts activation which has not run normally yet and the distribution of logistics to the evacuation posts that have not been smooth yet.

On 27 November 2017, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport was closed due to the sustainable eruption of Mount Agung. The airport re-opened on 29 November 2017. AirNav also issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) closure of Lombok International Airport. Lombok Airport was closed from Sunday, 26 November to Monday, 27 November 2017.
