Mount Agung erupts shortly with an altitude about 2,000 to 2,500 meters above the crater peak. A level IV alert status with hazardous area recommendation has been applied within 6-kilometer radius. "Beyond the 6-kilometer radius, the condition is safe," said Sutopo.
In accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in an effort to improve the safety of air communications, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation has issued Volcano Observatory Notice for Aviation (VONA) with the orange color code of post-corruption.
Sutopo stated that the people activities are normal. They were not panic when they saw the eruption.
Experience in handling the eruption during November 2017 gave a better understanding so that they are prepared better to face the eruption. Even so, BNPB still warned the public to be aware of the potential aftershock eruption.

On 27 November 2017, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport was closed due to the sustainable eruption of Mount Agung. The airport re-opened on 29 November 2017.
