TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Five districts in Bima Regency of West Nusa Tenggara were inundated by flash floods striking on Saturday (13/1) at 5:30 (local time) and it still inundates residents’ houses until Sunday (14/1).
"The floods made residents relocate. Houses, schools, paddy fields and public facilities are inundated and roads are blocked, but we are still collecting further data," Bima Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) head Bambang said in Mataram.
He mentioned that 13 villages in 5 districts hit by floods include Soki, Ngali, Cenggu, Runggu Villages in Belo District. Meanwhile in WohaDistrict, three villages were affected namely Nisa, Naru and Penapali villages.
In Palibelo District, two villages inundated were Belo and Padolo villages. In Madapangga District, only Monggo and Ncand villages were affected. In Monta District, floods also hit Monta and Sie Villages.
Bambang explained that the floods were resulted from torrential rain pouring over villages around Ncera Dam of Belo District on Saturday (13/1) at 3:30 (local time). The dam could not hold the rain water and it overflew to residential areas.
Bima BPBD has distributed logistics aid to the affected areas. In addition teams were deployed to clean up houses and pump water inundating the houses.
