TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo awarded Satya Lencana Kebaktian Sosial award, a prestigious honor, to blood donors in Bogor State Palace on Sunday (17/12).
The award is given to donors hitting 100-donation milestone.
"Let me express my gratitude to the donors who have donated blood more than 100 times," Jokowi said. President believes that those donors are worthy to be called as a hero of humanity.
Those who have donated blood 100 times, Presiden said, have done it for at least 25 years. “That’s a long period.”
In that span of 25 years, Jokowi continues, the donors have donated at least 30 liters of blood. "This means you have saved more than 150lives."
Indonesia Red Cross head Ginanjar Kartasasmita said that 857 donors are eligible to receive the awards. They are from 22 provinces. "The highest number of those donors come from East Java with 334 people," Ginanjar explained.
