Activities of Residents in Tasikmalaya Return to Normal

TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Residents of the southern coasts of Tasikmalaya, West Java, have returned to do their daily activities on Saturday morning, Dec. 16, after they evacuated for early warning of tsunami following the earthquake that hit the area on Friday evening.
"The situation is clear, people begin to do their activities," a resident of Cipatujah district, Yana, said on Saturday, Dec. 16.
He explained that the earthquake made the residents around Tasikmlaya coasts panicked and it went worse with the warning of tsunami.
The residents living near the coast, Yana continued, evacuated to higher grounds to avoid the threat of tsunami.
"At night (on Friday), people were evacuating, and early this morning (on Saturday) they went back to their houses," Yana added.
Meanwhile, based on West Java Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), houses and public facilities were damaged in Tasikmalaya. It is reported that 18 houses, Singaparna Hospital, Tasikmalaya Public Vocational School 3 and Dokter Soekarjo General Hospital had minor to moderate damage.
