Earthquake in Tasikmalaya Causes Casualty, Damage Houses

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Earthquake in Tasikmalaya killed a victim and damaged dozens of houses. National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) stated that the victim is Dede Lutfi (62), a resident of Gunung Sari Village of Sadanaya District, Ciamis Regency.
“One victim was killed,” BNPB spokesman Sutopo said on Saturday, Dec. 16.
In Gunung Sari Village, several houses were destroyed and two residents were injured. Meanwhile, Sutopo added, in Pangandaran Regency, three houses were severely damaged and three houses had minor damage.

Sutopo continued that in south Tasikmalaya houses were torn down in Cikalong and Tibalong districts. BNPB also reported damage to six houses in Banyumas.
Furthermore, two victims were injured in Kebumen and one injured in Pekalongan. In Ajibarang Regency of Banyumas, a house was destroyed.
An earthquake with 6.9 Richter Scale (SR) took place in Tasikmalaya on Friday at 11.47.57 p.m. Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released an early warning of tsunami.
“Five minutes after the earthquake, BMKG activated the early warning of tsunami,” Sutopo explained. Two and a half hours later, the warning was revoked.
