Breaking News: 4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Sukabumi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake of 4.5 magnitudes shook Sukabumi and its surrounding on Friday, Dec. 15 at around 11 p.m. The epicenter of the quake was at 7.29 South Latitude and 106.69 East Longitude.
"[It occurred] at 48 kilometers Southwest Sukabumi, West Java, at the depth of 50 kilometers,” said head of South Tangerang meteorological agency (BMKG) in a written statement on Friday.
According to Joko, the BMKG’s shakemap shows the quake can be felt in Sukabumi and surrounding, including Jampang and Surade.
Based on its hypocenter, Joko explained, the quake was included in a shallow quake occurred due to the activity of Indo-Australian plate subduction that infiltrated the Eurasian plate causing rocks deformation.
