In Yudhistira’s sixth grade Social Sciences (IPS) book, there is a list of West Asian countries and its capitals. In the list, Jerusalem is listed as Israel’s capital city.
The publisher stated on their website that they obtained the information of Jerusalem’s status from the 2010 World Population Data Sheet that is available online. “We were not aware that the data has not been officially recognized by international institutions.”
The book that they published sparked reactions from Bandung’s Independent Teacher Action Forum (FAGI). FAGI chairman Iwan Hermawan urged for the page that contained the controversial material to be torn. “That is not different to U.S. President Donald Trump who recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital,” he said.
