TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - First Daughter Kahiyang Ayu Siregar and Bobby Afif Nasution underwent traditional ritual Mapangir on Saturday, November 25, before being awarded communal titles. Mapangir is a ritual of washing bride and groom’s hands and feet at the groom’s parents’ house. The newlywed couple also bathed in Batang Gadis River in Mandailing Natal.
The ritual symbolizes a couple leaving the teenage phase and entering the adult phase.

In the ritual, Kahiyang and Bobby wore Mandailing traditional dresses. Kahiyang chose a red dress with complete accessories, and Bobby was in a black suit with red songket.
After the ritual, Bobby and Kahiyang returned to the main hall with Mandailing dance and silat performance. At the hall, they will receive their traditional titles.
The titles were given to the couple as Bobby Nasution is a royal descendant of King Gunung Baringin Nasution from South Tapanuli.
