TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nobody wants to be sick, let alone being an inpatient. However, if one of your family members has to be admitted as an inpatient, you will have no choice other than to pay the medical bill. Therefore, you better have an insurance cover for such a situation.

The problem is, in an emergency situation, we often face difficulty to follow insurance claim procedure. Not to mention that we have to make sure whether the designated hospital has a partnership with the insurance company.

The issues were discussed in a talk show during the launch of “PRUmedical Network” in South Jakarta held recently. Prudential Indonesia president director Jens Reisch gave his tips to pick the best insurance plan for your family.

1. Find out more about the partnering hospitals

The partnership between hospitals and insurance companies is key. Jens Reisch said that it is important to find out more about the partnership in case of emergency so that you will know where to find help. “Prudential Indonesia, for example, has established partnerships with 42 hospitals managed by Siloam, Mayapada, Mitra Keluarga, and Royal Trauma across Indonesia in more than 30 cities,” he said.

2. Availability of inpatient beds

Patients reserve the rights to facility upgrades if the designated inpatient beds were not available without paying more for it.

3. Additional facility for your family

Is there any additional facility for patient’s family? “Additional facility such as food voucher, for example, shows support during inpatient period,” Jens Reisch said.
