Setya Novanto`s Lawyer Clueless on International Law: Mahfud MD

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Chief Justice of Constitutional Court (MK) Mahfud MD considers Setya Novanto’s lawyer Fredrich Yunadi does not understand internasional law. Such a statement is related to Fredrich’s statement to report Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to International Human Rights Court.
The statement was made by Mahfud in Medan on Saturday (18/11).
“I think Fredrich, proposing to report KPK to International Human Rights Court, does not understand international law. He doesn’t pretend to feign ignorance, but he actually does not understand,” Mahfud stated.
Mahfud explained that international law deals involving countries, not individuals. For example, a case of dispute betweenIndonesia and Malaysia over an island situated on the borders.
Meanwhile, in International Court, Mahfud continued, the subject of the victim has to be concerned with ethnic cleansing, crime against humanity, or human trafficking.
“So if Setya Novanto’s case is brought to International Court, then he will be kicked out", Mahfud said while smiling.
