TEMPO.CO, Palembang - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi urged people to fight against radicalism. He conveyed the statement during the Youth Pledge Day commemoration in Griya Agung Palembang on Saturday, Oct. 28.
The event that was participated by thousands of students of South Sumatra state universities began with diversity in unity declaration and oration from lecturers and students. It was witnessed by South Sumatra Governor Alex Nurdin and Sumatra Police chief Insp. Gen. Zulkarnain.
Budi mentioned that the same event is also carried out in other regions.

Oration of diversity in unity was delivered nationwide by thousands of professors, doctors, and masters of higher education. In addition, nationalism declaration was stated by 4.5 million students from more than 3,000 universities in 350 regencies/cities in 34 provinces including South Sumatra, Budi added.
He claimed that radicalism must be fought in unity and it must not be developed in Indonesia, a country upholding peace, diversity, and Pancasila values.
Societies with orderly conduct must not be ruined by groups spreading radicalism, the minister said.
