TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto said that there are no Indonesians among ISIS fighters who turn themselves in to Syrian authorities. He received the information from the State Intelligence Agency (BNI).
Reuters reported on October 14 that as many as 100 ISIS militants turned themselves in to the authorities in Raqqa, Syria.
Wiranto has also confirmed the killing of ISIS leaders Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute in Marawi as reported by the Australian government. “They have been killed indeed; the images have been released,” he said.
Minister Wiranto said that the two ISIS leaders have been killed after Indonesia, Australia and other Southeast Asian nations met in Manado, North Sulawesi, in a bid to tackle ISIS efforts to turn the region into a new stronghold.
