TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three ports in Indonesia have implemented online-based vessel and goods service, also known as Inaportnet. The ports are located in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Port Panjang in Lampung; and Port Balikpapan in East Kalimantan
The Transportation Ministry's acting director general of sea transportation Bay M Hasani said the implementation of Inaportnet aims to improve ship services in ports; ensuring they are faster, more reliable, transparent, up to standards, and cost-efficient.
"That way, we can improve the competitiveness of ports in Indonesia," Bay said in a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 26.
He said that the online-based services system is a program by the Transportation Ministry program. The goal is to implement the system in 16 ports across the country by the end of 2017.
To date, there are already ten ports that have implemented the online-based program.
