TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) received a report submitted by the Special Committee for the Inquiry Right against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) during the sixth plenary session held today. However, the special committee neither provided a conclusion nor recommendations in relation the anti-graft commission.

The Special Committee highlighted the KPK’s sting operation, justice collaborator, ineffective coordination with other law enforcers, and an indication of dualism in the KPK’s internal body. However, the Special Committee admitted that they have to confirm the findings so that they could not provide any conclusions and recommendations.

“It won’t be fair if we draw a conclusion without confirmation,” Agun Gunandjar, chairman of the DPR’s Special Committee for the Inquiry Right against the KPK, said before 290 lawmakers and DPR Deputy Speaker Fahri Hamzah.

In the report, the Special Committee advised the KPK to be cautious in eradicating corruption it is not the only law enforcer fighting against corruption.

“The KPK was established not to assume other institution’s role, but as a trigger to make [corruption eradication efforts] more effective and efficient,” Agun said.

In response to the report, for factions at the DPR expressed their support to extend the Special Committee’s terms of office. They are the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the Democratic Party, and the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party.
