TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The public will have more option in selecting where to buy their fuels from. Nusantara Energy Plant Indonesia (IDX: NEPI) has joined the gas station competition to sell Ron 88 gasoline or also known as Premium.
NEPI will sell fuel through Vivo—a gas station brand that also operates in Singapore and the Netherland. Vivo's first gas station has opened in Cilangkap East Jakarta. It was scheduled to hold a pre-sale, but the plan got canceled since Vivo did not get a permit from the Energy and Mineral Resources for not having a distributor's certificate.
NEPI spokesman Maldi Zacki Al-Jufrie said they will comply with the government and wait for a license before holding a sales trial. "In principle, we will obey the government's regulations," he told Tempo on Sunday.
NEPI is the subsidiary or Swiss-based Vitol Group. In Indonesia, NEPI has mini refineries and fuel tanks in North Jakarta's Tanjung Priok.
