TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Freeport Indonesia management temporarily closed down the mine access road from Timika to Tembagapura and vice versa after the shooting incident to three units of their vehicles in 61 Mile, Tembagapura District, MimikaRegency on Sunday morning (24/9).
PT Freeport Indonesia Vice President Corporate Communications Riza Pratama said in Timika on Sunday (24/9) that the main access road will be cloased down in 24 hours in compliance with the procedure.
"This measure was taken so that internal security officers and the police can investigate the area thoroughly and ensure that the area is safe," Rizaexplained.
Due to the incident, he continued, workers’ busses heading to Tembagapura from Timika were halted and directed back to Gorong-gorong bus terminal in Timika.
"It goes the same for the busses in the afternoon, busses coming from both directions are cancelled. We temporarily close down the mine access road until the situation is conducive," Riza added.
