TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The tents of Indonesian humanitarian aid for the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh have been raised. Dozens of the tents are placed in Thaingkali, Ukhiya, which is settled by 600,000 refugees arrived since the past week.
“The tents from Indonesia have been installed at the refugee camp. Hopefully, it can slightly ease their struggle of sleeping under the night skies for a period of time,” said Indonesia’s Ambassador to Bangladesh.

The tents that could accommodate 50 people are provided by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB). Other aids such as prepared foods and family kits have also been distributed to the refugees, which mainly prioritizes women and children.
The humanitarian aid consists of 30 tons of rice, 14,000 blankets, 17,000 sarongs, 2,490 packages of prepared food, 10 units of an electricity generator, 20 large sized tents, 10 units of flexible water tanks, and many others. The 74-ton aid was flown-in to Bangladesh through eight phases on an Indonesian military cargo plane.

The aid for the Rohingya refugees was symbolically handed over to the District Commissioner of Chittagong, Md. Zillur Rahman Chowdhury as the representative of the Bangladesh Government on September 14. The deliveries that arrived on September 15, 16, and 18, was greeted by Additional District Commissioner of Chittagong, Habibur Rahman.
