Febri was unable to provide more details but said that the KPK had been informed this was not the first time a money-giving practice happened in the ministry.
Febri said that investigators had arrested one person in the operation; a state organizer suspected of having a position in the Ministry.
"We will give an update about the total number of people arrested," he said.
In addition to securing evidence and making arrests, KPK investigators also sealed one of the rooms at the ministry's buildings, which is the office of the Sea Relations Director General A. Tonny Budiman.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has expressed his apologies for the alleged corruption implicating his office.
