Jusuf Kalla Saddened by Current Situation in Islamic World

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla admits he is brokenhearted by the current situation happening in the Islamic world. Many Islamic countries are experiencing conflicts and social ruptures.
“All of this brings me to tears. We’re all witnessing the situation in the Islamic world, [such as] killing each other, sparking conflicts among themselves,” said VP Jusuf Kalla while he opened the Islamic education international symposium in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 23.

Kalla reminded that Islam is a religion that brings blessings to the world and its content (rahmatan lil alamin) which is contradicted to the current situation where many people who admit being Muslims killing each other. He says the conflicts in the Islamic world is a result of the people who misinterpret the Islamic teachings.
The prolonged conflict in Islamic countries such as Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Libya, has created a disaster towards humanity causing millions of people to take refuge in other countries.
Jusuf Kalla is thankful for living in a nation that is tolerant and respectful, therefore, he urges the people to preserve the current peaceful condition in Indonesia.
