BPS: Senior Population in N. Sulawesi, the Older, the Less Happy

TEMPO.CO, Manado - Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported in 2017 that the older the residents of North Sulawesi (Sulut) are, the less happy they become. Nevertheless, Sulut residents place third as the happiest citizens nation-wide.
"Based on the results of our survey, happiness index of North Sulawesi residents tend to decline as they get older," Sulut BPS head Moh Edy Mahmud said in Manado on Saturday, August 19.

The residents aged 24 and younger had the highest happiness index as much as 75.15. The same results emerged on the dimensions of life satisfaction and life meaning, and affect dimension until the age of 64. At the age of 64 and older, the value of the index declined.
In addition, the index value of personal life satisfaction sub dimension decreased as age increased.
Meanwhile, he added, in terms of social satisfaction sub dimension, the highest index value was found in the age group of 40 years old and younger.
