TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The data collected by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the happiness index of Balinese people in 2017 is at 72.48 on a 100 scale. This is higher than the happiness level of the average Indonesian people which is at 70.69.
The happiness index in the region, according to Head of Bali Province BPS Adi Nugroho, is a composite index that is compiled based on three aspects, life satisfaction, the interpretation of their feeling and meaning towards life.
The happiness index of 2017 is measured based on the same method applied in 2014. Compared to the 2014 research, the level of happiness increased 2.17 points. The sub-category of its satisfaction level towards the region’s security shows the highest score of 80.16.
Meanwhile, the lowest index is in the education and skills category at 63.75 points which are the sub-category of personal life satisfactory. Other indicators that score below 70 points are in the categories of profession, business, main activity and household income.
Based on the data in general, the people of Bali are mostly optimistic towards their future.
