TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Finance Ministry`s director general of budgetary Askolani said the House of Representatives is given a budget allocation of Rp5.7 trillion in the 2018 state budget draft. The figure represents an increase of some 21.3 percent from last year's budget of Rp4.7 trillion.
The approved budget is lower than what the DPR's Household Affairs Agency (BURT) proposed, which was Rp7.2 trillion.
According to Askolani, every ministry and agency is allowed to ask for however many budgets they wish to propose. But the government will make a decision based on the state's fiscal capabilities.
"We have to adjust to our fiscal capacity," he said in Jakarta, Friday, August 18.
Nevertheless, the government is willing to have discussions on the possibility of allocating additional budget.
"If there is space, there is space. Perhaps it can be accommodated through discussions. But if there is no fiscal space, then, that's what they get. We have a limit after all, "he said.
He added that the House's budget proposal did not include an allocation to build an apartment in Taman Ria Senayan area. "No. We never discussed that. There is no proposal for it," he said.
