TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Indonesian migrant worker (TKI) from Pasirpogor Village, Sukabumi, West Java, becomes another victim of abuse by her employer in Saudi Arabia. Nenih Rusmiyati, a domestic worker, is reportedly abused by the people who hired her in the country.

"Nenih left to Taif in 2007. She always extended her passport validity every three years. But since 2016, her passport had expired," Sukabumi's Labor Department secretary Ali Iskandar said on Friday, August 18.

There are suspicions that Nenih is forbidden to extend her passport by her employers, or even allowed to leave the house out of fear that she will file a report to Saudi authorities.

The Sukabumi Labor Department is now coordinating with the Foreign Ministry and the BNP2TKI, the Indonesian migrant worker's protection institution, as well as other institutions, to repatriate Nenih. 

Ali hopes Nenih's return can be done quickly, considering she had passed her work and stay permits in Saudi Arabia.
