TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Asgardia is set to be the first international space nation that will soon begin its construction. It has attracted fascination from Indonesians that are interested in enlisting as a citizen.
However, it is impossible for Indonesians to become international citizens of Asgardia. According to National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) head Thomas Djamaluddin, Indonesia does not allow dual-citizenship which makes it impossible for Indonesians to become citizens of Asgardia.

The founder of Asgardia is currently in search for new citizens to join the space community and has offered it to countries across the globe. But the citizenship legality aspect of Asgardia is not clear yet and has sparked numerous debates on whether it should be called a space nation.
According to Thomas, a life in a space colony is just a mere concept and is nothing but a dream project. Thomas believes that such doubts would be eliminated if the construction is considerably accelerated.
“But as a place to live, it is still quite far,” said Thomas.
As previously reported, as many as 6,505 Indonesians have registered to be citizens of Asgardia.
