TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Defense Ministry introduced its Indonesia-built UAV nicknamed Rajawali 720. The drone is the result of a partnership between the Ministry’s research and development agency and Bhineka Dwi Persada.
The Rajawali 720 went through several test flights at the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space’s (LAPAN) installation on Thursday, July 27.

The flight test was attended by Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu, together with several high-ranking officers of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and Ministries.
Rajawali 720 is able to constantly fly for 24-hours with a maximum speed of 73 knots and can cover short-and-long distances from 20 kilometers to 1,000 kilometers. The drone, named after a bird of prey, can reach a maximum
altitude of 8,000 meters.

Rajawali 720 has the ability to take off from and land on a short runway. It was made as an alternative means of observing border areas across Indonesia’s vast land and sea territories.
