TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat has called for the revocation of citizenship of civil servants linked to anti-Pancasila organizations, such as Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI).
“We suggest that [the government] revoke their citizenship altogether. Let them stay in Syria forever,” Djarot said yesterday at the City Hall.
Djarot said that civil servants who oppose the Pancasila ideology are not worthy of a place in government agencies. He said that anti-Pancasila civil servants should find another job or move to another country.

Earlier, the Justice and Human Rights Ministry has disbanded the HTI based on the regulation in lieu of law (Perpu) No. 2/2017. Research, Technology and High Education Ministry has given lecturers and employees of state universities involved in HTI activities two options: to remain in HTI and quit the campus or resign from the HTI and retain their jobs.
Aside from Djarot, Yogyakarta Indonesia Art Institute Rector Mukhamad Agus Burhan has also supported the stance made by the High Education Ministry to ban lecturers from joining anti-Pancasila organizations, such as the HTI.
