TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) will continue filing a judicial review of the government regulation in lieu of law on mass organizations (Perpu Ormas). HTI spokesman Ismail Yusanto said that other organizations will also file one.
Following the revocation of its legal status, the HTI will file a lawsuit to the State Administrative Court (PTUN), according to Ismail. The organization is currently studying the case with lawyer Yusril Ihza Mahendra. “Documents are being prepared before the submission,” he said.

Ismail said that an application for a judicial review to the PTUN will be filed in the near future, pending the decree on the HTI legal status revocation. “We have yet to receive the decree.”
Justice and Human Rights Ministry official Freddy Harris said that HTI legal status was revoked on Wednesday, July 19 based on Perpu No. 2/2017. “A harsh action will be taken against associations/mass organizations that make attempts or hold activities contravening the Pancasila ideology and the Indonesian laws,” he said Wednesday, July 19, in Jakarta.
Anyone having any objections to the decision may take legal action against the government in accordance with the laws and regulation, Freddy said.
Freddy stressed that the government did not arbitrarily revoke HTI legal status under Perpu on Mass Organizations (Perpu Ormas).
The decision was made after a synergy between governmental agencies in the fields of politics, law and security, he said.
