Bogor holds Wisata Pustaka Loka, a Literacy Event for Students

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Library and Archives Office of Bogor, West Java organises Wisata Pustaka Loka, a literacy event for students. The event is open to students currently enrolled at institutions ranging from Indonesia Early Childhood Care and Education (PAUD), Kindergarten, Elementary School to Junior High School.
“The Literacy event, Wisata Pustaka Loka, will be held from the 18th to the 20th of July 2017. “For three days we invite students to go to the Regional Library of Bogor City,” said Nuraeni, Chief Administrative Officer of the Regional Library of Bogor City, Monday, 7/18.
“Wisata Pustaka Loka aims to help foster the interest of visitng the library in students and other members of the community. The Regional Library of Bogor City is located in GOR Pajajaran complex, Jl Pemuda. By visiting the library, students and others can familiarize themselves with the vast collection of books, are able to watch educational films about Bogor City itself, tourist attractions and even motivational films.”
“The films that we play are tailored to the ages and levels of student education.” says Nuraeni.
Nuraeni says that the days of the event are designated to certain levels of education. On Tuesday (18/7), the library is designated for Junior High School students, the following day is for Elementary School students and on Thursday for Kindergarten and PAUD students. “Each group consisting of 50 people will tour the library for 1 hour.”
The Library and Archives Department worked with the Education Office in order to involve a number of schools to participate in Wisata Pustaka Loka.
In addition to having the opportunity to read books, participants of Wisata Pustaka Loka have access to entertaining games in the library such as puzzles. To further encourage the culture of literacy, students will be given a series of questions to determine their age upon visit.
Based on the visitor records of the Regional Library of Bogor City, the amount of people who visit the library are low. Dating back to 1972, the total number of library members is merely 400 people.
