TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Emerging from the Indonesian Robot Contest 2017 will be a new champion team selected from various university teams in Indonesia who have competed in five categories or divisions. One of the unique race divisions with new challenges every year is the ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union) Robot Contest Indonesia.
This year, team Brahmana from the Institute of Science & Technology Academy of Industry (Akprind) Yogyakarta, successfully grabbed the championship title and the team with the best strategy title after defeating the host team Isola 229 in the final. The final was held in the gymnasium of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Bandung on Sunday, July 9.
Chairman of the contest, Syaom Barliana, said that there are 24 teams competing in the ABU Robot Contest division from originally 93 participating teams. The teams include students from the Institute of Technology Sepuluh November (ITS), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Brawijaya University and various other private universities and polytechnic universities. “This event is a center of students' creativity and development in the field of robotics,” said Syaom. Since 2009, the Indonesian Robot Contest relies on the provisions and themes of ABU Robocon.
The 2017 KRI committee provides awards for First Place Winner, Second Place Winner, Third Place Winner, Most Optimistic Team, Best Design, Best Strategy and other awards to be determined by the committee. The first place winner will receive a Sambhawana Pratimacala rotating trophy.
The winning team will also be invited to ABU Robocon 2017 at Ota Ward Gymnasium Tokyo, Japan, which will take place on August 26-28. The Indonesian Robot Team will compete against 20 teams from countries abroad.
An official at the Directorate of Student Affairs Widyo Winarso said that another international level of Robotics will follow the team after being granted the title of “Champion” of a national level tournament like Indonesian Robot Contest.
“Being a champion is a bonus, the important thing is that this contest has built and developed your character, hospitality, and cooperation,” said Widyo.
