TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Around 15,000 subscribers of Tangerang tap water company PDAM Tirta Kerta Raharja (TKR) in Kutabumi area have been facing clean water crisis in the past three days. This is due to damaged main pipe and it halts the water supply.

"For the past three days, we are struggling to access clean water, nothing has been done," Pondok Makmur compex neighborhood unit (RT) head Ahmad Saiful Bahri said on Sunday, July 16.

Saiful said that hundreds of the complex residents who are regular subscribers of PDAM TKR are in the crisis of clean water. We, Syaiful added, can only expect water tanks from PDAM, but PDAM has done nothing. For shower and washing, Saiful explained, people rely on available wells that are very limited and they have to queue up to 20 meters.

PDAM TKR director Rusdy Machmud claimed that clean water tanks are reaching the areas facing water crisis. “Help is on the way," he said.

Rusdy explained that on Saturday, July 15, a 400-diameter pipe in VTR II roundabout bursted and the water supply was disrupted. As a result, Rusdy added, several housing clusters are affected; around 15.000 water channels were affected.

At the moment, Rusdy said, PDAM technical team is carrying out repairs and it is estimated that they will complete the entire repair on the afternoon.
